Earth v's the Flying Saucers (1956)

Earth v's the Flying Saucers. Arguably, Ray Harryhausen's only pure science-fiction movie. Ray designed, built and animated the flying saucers. Oh how I wish he had also been allowed to animate the aliens themselves...

The photograph is also (to me) reminiscent of H.G. Well's War of the Worlds, a movie that Ray Harryhausen wanted to do, and for which he developed materials, but ultimately did not film. Of the movies that Ray did not do, War of the Worlds is possibly the most missed by his fans. See The Lost Movies by John Walsh (published by Titan Books).
