Common Eland, Tragelaphus oryx, at night, camera trap

The Common Eland (Tragelaphus oryx) captured by remote camera trap at night. One of the largest of the antelope, males can weigh up to a tonne. For such a heavy beast they are known to be amazing jumpers when they have to. I have heard stories from wildlife capture teams of eland jumping fences and even out of translocation trucks!

Location: Northern Cape, South Africa
